Different Stages @ Austin Playhouse
March 19th-April 10th, 2010

In funny, moving, engaging monologues, three sisters spin the tale of their family and an era. Their father, the eponymous carpetbagger, was a former Union soldier who used his post as county treasurer and tax collector to amass a Texas plantation of twenty thousand acres. Preserving that plantation through the vicissitudes of their lives becomes a central issue for his daughters. It’s all about family secrets, tribal memories, sibling rivalry, and how change stalks our lives.

New Epic Series kicking off Easter Weekend at Celebration Church in Georgetown, Texas. The significance of this trailer is that it was all produced in house. In other words, low budget, but high on visuals. The Easter Services are set to be an hour long, supported by full multimedia throughout. It is definitely something to be experienced in the area. Don’t have a place to go for Easter? Celebration church has 6 English services and 1 Spanish Service Easter Weekend and will be the hottest seat in town.

Opening Reception Saturday, April 3rd from 6 to 8pmThe Wally Workman Gallery presents Laguna, new watercolors by Jan Heaton. The work in this collection is inspired by the simplistic beauty and healing properties of nature: delicate solitary shells, tangled kelp on the shore, water patterns, lush floral masses, details of trees and foliage she observed every day. Jan constructs her paintings with a myriad of transparent layers that ultimately convey a celebration of life and natural beauty.
